The Development Of Artificial Intelligence - 1450 Words

CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION This chapter is discussed about the project background, the problem of the project, the objective of the project and project scope. 1.1 PROJECT MOTIVATION With the development of artificial intelligence in recent years, there has been a growing interest in algorithms inspired by the observation of natural phenomena. We can see that all the algorithms are good replacements as method to solve complex computational problems. Various heuristic approaches have been adopted by researches including genetic algorithm (Holland 1975), simulated annealing (Kirkpatrick et al. 1983), immune system (Farmer et al. 1986), ant system (Dorigo et al. 1996) and particle swarm optimization (Kennedy and Eberhart 1995; Kennedy and Eberhart 1997). All the above heuristics involve the desired problem solution from iterative cycles of iterations between the population members. Unfortunately, no algorithm can solve all the optimization problems and have some algorithms can be the best solution for a few problems than the others. Optimization problems are widely encountered in various fields in science and technology. Sometimes such problems can be very complex due to the actual and practical nature of the objective function or the model constraints. Most of power system optimization problems have complex and nonlinear characteristics with heavy equality and inequality constraints. Optimization is the important process to many systems in industry and it will produceShow MoreRelatedHistory And Development Of Artificial Intelligence1507 Words   |  7 Pagestechnology-based society as ours, artificial intelligence is becoming an important part of our daily lives. This research paper will explore the history and development of artificial intelligence, the places we can encounter them, the future they hold and the ethical dilemmas around this new technology. Although there was not a lot of technology in the 1950s, the idea of artificial intelligence, named by McCarthy, arose. The first form of artificial intelligence was a program with the ability toRead MoreArtificial Intelligence, Theory And Development Of Computer Systems Essay1115 Words   |  5 PagesArtificial intelligence, theory and development of computer systems able to perform tasks that would normally require human intelligence, such as speaking, decision-making etc. When most people think of artificial intelligence (Al), they think of the robots from the movie Chappie, or I, Robot. Those are some examples of what AI could lead to but that is not exactly it. The idea of intelligent machines go back to Greek mythology. The origin of AI can be described as philosophers who tried to explainRead MoreAnalysis of the Development of Artificial Intelligence Essay1066 Words   |  5 Pages Artificial intelligence has come a long way since the first robot. In 1950, Alan Turing of Britain publishes, Computer Machinery and Intelligence. This book was proposed to be the birth of artificial intelligence as we know it. The first robot that presents the usage of artificial intelligence was built in 1969. The purpose of this robot was to try out navigation using basic tools such as cameras and bump sensors (Marshall 371). Since then, we have made a million robots way better than thisRead MoreEssay On Artificial Intelligence1470 Words   |  6 PagesArtificial Intelligence, an acronym for AI.
